Because fit can vary by silhouette, fabric stretch, construction, neckline, and garment style, buyers should review individual product information where specific measurements are provided.
The charts below are intended as general buying references for our main product categories and can also help retailers build more balanced size assortments.
Use Body Measurements as Your Starting Point
For the most useful comparison, measurements should be taken over light clothing or close-fitting garments using a flexible measuring tape.
Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the body without pulling it too tightly.
Bust
Measure around the fullest part of the bust while keeping the tape level across the back.
Waist
Measure around the natural waistline, usually the narrowest part of the torso.
Hips
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat while standing naturally.
Length
Garment length may be measured from the shoulder, neckline, or upper garment point depending on the style.
Formal & Evening Gowns
Recommended for fitted maxi dresses, satin gowns, mermaid silhouettes, wedding guest gowns, formal dresses, and structured occasionwear. These styles generally have a closer fit through the bust, waist, and hips.

Fit Considerations by Product Type
Mermaid & Bodycon Styles
These silhouettes fit more closely through the waist and hips. If a customer falls between sizes, the larger size may provide a more comfortable fit depending on fabric stretch.
Strapless & Corset Styles
Bust and waist measurements are especially important. Structured bodices may provide less flexibility than stretch knit or softer dresses.
Flowing Maxi Dresses
Waist and bust often determine the primary fit, while fuller skirts generally allow more flexibility through the hips.
Knit Dresses
Knit fabrics may stretch and recover differently depending on construction. A fitted appearance does not always mean the garment has the same ease as a woven dress.
